Desert Horizon School Uniform Guidelines
Desert Horizon Elementary follows a uniform policy and enforces the district's dress code expectations. Please reference (J-2350-JICA-RA) in the Parent-Student Pendergast District handbook for further detailed information. According to the policy:
“Any attire that detracts from the learning environment is not acceptable. Students should dress in a manner that takes into consideration the educational environment, safety, health and welfare of self and others.”
Desert Horizon uniform attire is as follows:
Colors:
-
White, navy blue, light blue, hunter green, maroon, Desert Horizon School T Shirt
-
Black, Navy Blue, Khaki bottoms only
Tops:
-
Long or short sleeve knit polo shirts with a collar
-
No sleeveless shirts
-
No spaghetti straps
-
Mid-sections must be covered (No crop tops)
Bottoms:
-
No jeans, denim, sweat pants, & NO pants with holes
-
“Sagging” is not permitted
-
Boys: pants or shorts
-
No sports activewear.

Girls: pants, shorts, capris, skirts or dresses

No leggings
-
No sports activewear.
Shoes:

Tennis shoes must be worn on PE days

NO slides
-
Crocs must have back strap
Accessories:

Hats are not allowed to be worn in any school building (brim must be worn forward).

Bandanas are not allowed on campus.

Belt buckles must be plain. No oversized buckles with initials, emblems or symbols.
Outerwear:

Zipped or buttoned sweaters, sweatshirts, and jackets are the only outerwear that can be worn in the classroom.

Hoodies are allowed, but the hoods cannot be worn on their heads.
***New students have 5 school days from the day of their enrollment to be in uniform.
***All students are expected to adhere to the student dress code in the Parent-Student handbook.
If students violate dress code, parents will be contacted to bring a change of clothes. Repeatedly breaking dress code may result in disciplinary action.
